The Special Investigation Unit organizes a national training program to enhance the capacities of those concerned with the protection of human rights in the criminal justice system
The Special Investigation Unit, under the sponsorship of Dr. Ali bin Fadhul Al-Buainain, the Attorney General, is organizing training events under the title “National Training Program to Strengthen the Capacities of Persons concerned with the Protection of Human Rights in the Criminal Justice System” in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program, the Royal Police Academy and the Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies. The program targets Officials and affiliates of national human rights protection agencies and law enforcement officials, as well as civil society organizations.
In this context, Mohammad Khalid Al-Hazaa, Acting Attorney General and Head of the Special Investigation Unit, stated that this training program comes within the framework of the permanent and continuous support to the national bodies concerned with the protection of human rights and the development of the capabilities of their members in order to enhance the remarkable national efforts to achieve the future vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain aimed at advancing human rights, and to work on achieving the objectives of the National Human Rights Plan for the Kingdom of Bahrain (2022-2026) by developing the roles of national protection and restorative justice mechanisms, all in order to achieve effective implementation of the modern legislative policy based on developing the criminal justice system in accordance with international principles and standards in the matter of human rights.
The training program is scheduled to be launched, at the end of this month, for a period of six months, and will target about 1,000 participants from the national institutions, agencies and mechanisms concerned with the criminal justice system and those in charge of law enforcement, and the limits and controls on the legality of legal procedures against people and their special rights, in a series of workshops in which a group of national and international experts in the field of human rights lectures, with the participation of a number of judges, members of the Public Prosecution Office, and members and affiliates of national institutions and agencies concerned with the protection of human rights, members of the public security forces in various security and correctional departments and centers, as well as participants from the Shura Council and Parliament, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, the Ministry of Social Development, the Legislative and Legal Opinion Authority, the Supreme Council for Women, and a number of civil society organizations with the same relation.
