Mr. Mohammed Al-Zubari, Deputy Head of the Special Investigation Unit, received at the unit’s headquarters this morning, Mr. Maqsoud Cruz, Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission in the United Arab Emirates, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights.
During the meeting, the Special Investigation Unit, and its independent judicial nature within the judicial system in the Kingdom of Bahrain were introduced, and the role it plays in protecting human rights in the criminal justice system was reviewed, in partnership with all national institutions and mechanisms concerned with the protection and promotion of human rights. The attendees were also briefed on the administrative structure of the unit. And its specialized divisions and the mechanism for carrying out its work in accordance with the relevant international agreements, standards, and protocols.
This meeting comes within the framework of the visit of the Chairman and members of the National Commission for Human Rights to the Kingdom of Bahrain, to discuss ways of cooperation with national institutions and mechanisms concerned with the protection and promotion of human rights, with the aim of exchanging experiences, supporting and developing capacities, in light of the distinguished relations between the two brotherly countries.
