In the context of enhancing integration between the national bodies concerned with the protection of human rights, the Acting Attorney General and Head of the Special Investigation Unit, Mr. Mohammed Khalid Al-Hazaa, received at the unit’s headquarters, Engineer Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, President of the National Institution for Human Rights, and a number of members of the Foundation’s Board of Commissioners.
The meeting dealt with several main themes summarized in the role of national mechanisms in promoting and protecting human rights, national efforts to protect the rights of accused and convicted persons in the criminal system, and ways to enhance cooperation between the two parties, in addition to the specificity of dealing with crimes of torture and ill-treatment.
