Mr. Mohammad Khalid Al-Hazaa, the Acting Attorney General and Head of the Special Investigation Unit, received in his office this morning, the international expert Paula Jack and the international expert Stephen Burnside; With the aim of reviewing the best international practices in the field of legal protection for children and witnesses from all risks that may befall them due to their communications, testimony or information, within the framework of the continuous endeavor towards the effective implementation of the law of restorative justice for children and protecting them from abuse, which constitutes anew addition developments in the Kingdom’s continuous human rights and development process, as well as the exchange of experiences, ideas and future visions to advance human rights.

During the meeting, the updates made by the unit to its legal structure were reviewed with the aim of protecting children and witnesses, and what has been developed in its internal structure of a specialized division for the protection of victims and witnesses, to keep pace with the amendments made by the legislator to the Code of Criminal Procedure, and the special procedures added to its instructions for work in complaints submitted by children, so that the best interest of the child is the basic premise for his protection and safeguarding his rights in all procedures, taking into account that they are complementary to his personality and his social and psychological conditions, and that they do not, in anyway, negatively affect his upbringing or his future.
