Mr. Mohammed Khaled Al-Hazza, Acting Attorney General and Head of the Special Investigation Unit, received at the unit’s headquarters this morning, Mr. Sean O’Connell, an international expert at the United Nations Development Program in the field of rule of law, security, and human rights.

During the meeting, the Special Investigation Unit, its independent judicial nature within the judicial system in the Kingdom, and its role in protecting human rights in the criminal justice system were introduced. Mr. Shawn was also briefed on the unit’s internal structure, the division of its people, and the updates it made to its legal structure. To continue carrying out its work in accordance with relevant international agreements, standards and protocols.

Mr. Sean O’Connell’s visit to the Special Investigation Unit comes on the sidelines of his participation in the international conference, “The Impact of Human Activity on the Right to a Healthy and Suitable Environment: Practices, Challenges, and Solutions,” which was held in the Kingdom of Bahrain yesterday, September 6, 2023, and organized by the National Institution for Human Rights.
