Mohamed Khaled Al Hazzaa, Acting Advocate General and Head of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU), welcomed today at SIU’s headquarters a delegation from the sisterly State of Kuwait, led by Her Excellency Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Al Sabah, Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Affairs, and including several officials, as part of their official visit to Bahrain to review national institutional achievements and their legislative and technical frameworks.
During the visit, Al Hazzaa presented SIU’s pioneering nature in the region as an independent judicial body within Bahrain’s judicial system, highlighting its unique competencies and role in promoting the rule of law and ensuring the protection of human rights. He explained the investigation procedures followed based on SIU’s specific instructions and the role of its specialized divisions in receiving and addressing allegations, applying the provisions of the law and international standards related to investigating such cases.
In the same context, the meeting discussed areas of cooperation and ways to exchange expertise in human rights to reinforce those rights and establish justice in both countries.
