The Acting Attorney General and Head of the Special Investigation Unit, Mr. Mohammad Khaled Al-Hazzaa, meets in his office this morning, Prof. Tatiana Moskelkova, the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation, and her accompanying delegation, in the presence of Ms. Rawdha Salman Al-Aradi, a member of the Board of Commissioners at the National Institution for Human Rights.
During the meeting, the Special Investigation Unit and its independent judicial nature within the judicial system in the Kingdom were introduced, and its legal competencies to determine criminal responsibility against government officials who committed illegal acts that caused crimes of torture, abuse or ill-treatment, and the role the unit plays in protecting human rights in the Criminal justice systemin partnership with all national bodies concerned with the protection of human rights.
The meeting also discussed ways of cooperation between the two parties considering the distinguished bilateral relations that links the two countries. With the aim of exchanging experiences in the field of human rights and working to strengthen them and supporting and developing the capabilities of the two parties to carry out their tasks in accordance with international conventions and standards.
