Today, the third event of the national training program was held at the Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies to enhance the capacities of those concerned with the protection of human rights in the criminal justice system. It was Organized by the Special Investigation Unit in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program, the Royal Academy of Police and the Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies, with the participation of a group of judges, members of the Public Prosecution Office, officials and employees of national institutions, mechanisms and agencies concerned with the protection of human rights and those in charge of law enforcement.

The sessions dealt with several topics related to international standards related to the rights of inmates and detainees, and related to the safety of the detention environment, individualizing punitive treatment and encouraging the shift to penalties and non-custodial measures. They also touched on the independent judicial supervision of correction and rehabilitation centers to guarantee the rights of inmates and detainees.
